The comfortable and beamy Catalina 270 maximizes deck space with a hull that is wide at the sheer, providing reserve buoyancy and good performance to weather, and a fine forward entry for smooth motion through chop. This hull form achieves the objective of providing both excellent performance as well as comfortable sailing. The Catalina 270 is available in either a fin keel or wing keel design, and with either a diesel or 2-cylinder gasoline engine. The fin keel 270 has a draft of 5', while the wing keel draws only 3'6". Both models have a beam of 9'10" and include pedestal steering, a 14-gallon fuel tank, and an 18-gallon water tank with a 6-gallon water heater, plus a 16-gallon holding tank. Sporting comfortable contoured full length cockpit seats, the Catalina 270 has "big boat" roominess, making it perfect for weekend and longer family cruises. With a 27-foot hull length and 28'4" length overall, the Catalina 270 has the feel of a bigger sailboat. The aft cabin provides comfortable sleeping space for 2 with a large double berth athwartships, and the forward berth can be extended and enclosed for use by 2 as well. Additionally, the settees in the salon can be used for sleeping berths for another 2 adults. The galley provides convenient storage for dry goods, a large built-in ice box, and 2-burner stove covered by a flip-up counter for extra counter space. The salon includes settees that provide comfortable seating around a varnished teak table. An enclosed marine head, a standard feature on the 270, is a single-piece molded unit, making it easy to keep clean.
